HOW ORKIDS CAME ABOUT

The idea of Orkids was conceived in the year 2000. It is the brainchild of Geet Oberoi, a special educator, who was working in an inclusive set up. She worked with children whose special needs were varied. Mentally challenged, physically challenged, and emotionally challenged – all these children had a visually apparent disability, a disability which was visible to the naked eye. Down’s syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, hearing impairment to name a few, are obvious disabilities and are given due considerations whether it’s academic performance, physical performance or social adaptability.
